THANDA ISLAND JERUSALEMA CHALLENGE

The Thanda Island family decided to participate in the Jerusalema Challenge to share with the world the incredible spirit of our team, coupled with the infinite beauty of our paradise home nestled in a vibrant yet secluded private marine reserve off the coast of East Africa.

Our goal is to demonstrate that despite the turbulent times that have gripped the entire world during the COVID-19 Pandemic, nature has continued to flourish around us. Thanda Island is committed to conservation and training their predominantly Swahili staff from nearby Mafia Island and the local communities on the importance of marine life and reef restoration practices.
The time of global lockdown during the tragic pandemic served as an important time for the team, who spent time developing the in house coral nursery to assist the growth and stimulation of reef recovery. This will provide jobs in coral conservation for the local community and ensure long term recovery for the reefs near Mafia Island.

Our island family appreciate and promote the importance of conservation initiatives and the awareness, rehabilitation, and development of marine health.

We would like to dedicate this video to spreading awareness of marine conservation and the aspect of family and community, which have given us strength and joy in times of suffering, uncertainty and pain. We share with you the magic of Thanda, the happy faces, beautiful energy and love of our dynamic team in our paradise home, which we hope will generate positivity during these times.
